paintless dent removal
One of the worst sights a car owner can see is dents on his car. It doesn’t not matter how the dents were made, all that matters is the quicker they disappear the better for the driver.
Getting your car into the auto body shop for dent removal can be a costly event. You’ll be happy to know that this is not the only way to fix your car. There are a few ways a car owner can remove car dents in the privacy of a personal garage. Certain dents are cannot be repaired by yourself. In these situations, there is no other option than to visit your local auto body shop.
For the car dents that can be repaired, start by going to a car repair retail shop. Dent removal kits consume a large amount of space on store shelves. Every dent removal kit includes all the tools necessary for the general do-it-yourself weekend car repair enthusiast.
In lieu of using a drill to work on those dents, many of the do-it-yourself removal kits opt for suction cups. Depending on the type of dent removal kit, any relative item to a suction cup may be used instead of a drill.
To begin with, find a dolly tool that is used for flattening and reshaping of metal. Add to this a metalworking hammer and the dent removal kit.
Focus on the center of the dent. Put the suction cup or similar tool at this spot. For additional removal strength, use the glue stick that is included in many dent removal kits. Attach a handle to the suction cup for better leverage in pulling the dent outward.
Gradually start to pull the suction cup and attached handle away from the center of the dent. This will cause the dent to flatten out. Next, take the metalworking hammer to tap the front portion of the dent. Keep the dolly firmly placed against the back side of the dent. For this, going under the car exterior or through the car hood may be necessary.
Get a medium grit disk attached to a drill and remove the paint down to the metal. Create a section of at a minimum one inch radius around the dent. Fill this area with a body filler product. Once this part has dried, wrap a piece of sandpaper around a wood block and sand it. Start with a 36 grit paper and end using a 120 grit paper.
After sanding, apply 6 layers of auto designed primer. Let each coat dry before applying the next layer. Sand the area again with a 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper application. This process eliminates any non-visible scratches on the dent surface.
Many auto body shops focus on mobile dent removal. They employ the paintless dent removal process bringing the auto body shop to the car owner whether it be at home, at work or at play. Weather conditions are the only factor that can affect this convenient auto body repair process. Most paintless dent removal jobs can be completed within an hour. In certainrare occasions however, dent removal repair can only be done in the brick and mortar shop.

paintless dent removal
Car dents are not my cup of tea by any means. Car dents lower from the value of the car, both monetarily and aesthetically. It was no wonder I was completely freaked out when I saw the most latest dent in my car. For one fact for sure, car dents—no matter how small, can cause the vehicle to look like trash and for another—it is not as if I extra cash to throw away.
Car dent repair can be pricey and I wasn’t very sure that I could afford to have mine repaired, but I didn’t want to drive around in a dented car either. Car dents have a way of multiplying.
I was looking around for a auto repair shop and calling to get prices when I found Dent Masters. Looking through the website I was delighted by 2 things:
1) that their dent removal method was explained so comprehensively on their site and
2) that they agreed to have one of their technicians come down to my house and repair the dent for me. Who doesn’t love a business that comes to you instead of forcing you to go to them?
Needless to say, I hired them straight away
Here is the way the dent removal approach works. Dent Masters utilizes an approach called Paintless Dent Removal, or PDR. It is a technique by which the dents are removed without using tools that require the car to be touched up or refinished. The people at Dent Master use specialized tools to work on the dent until the dent is totally removed.
Paintless dent removal used to be limited to only small dents but now it can be fix larger dents as well as including dents that would usually require some major body work to repair. The PDR specialists can even fix dents that has been done by hailstones.
The PDR specialist who came to my house was pretty nice and talked to me the entire way through the process and when he was done with his work (which did not take nearly as long as I thought it would) my car looked like it had never been dented at all! I had feared that there might be some residual damage—a couple of small scratches in the paint from the tools for example, but there was none!
After reading up a a bit more on Dent Masters, I realized that their company has been around for over thirty years and it comes as no surprise. When you see how this method works, you wouldn’t thinking of taking your car back to a traditional car repair shop ever again. Rather, you’ll make Dent Masters your first option.
